Never mind, The Power of Three is here Reread in June 28th, to be more precise Full review to come! I'm a huge fan of the series, and when I learned there was a graphic novel continuation, I was absolutely ecstatic.
Ordered the first one immediately, and ripped open the package the moment it got here. For only being pages long, it felt like way too much happened.
Maybe I'm used to the pacing of the show, but the graphic novel was just breakneck sp Full review to come! Maybe I'm used to the pacing of the show, but the graphic novel was just breakneck speed.
I think I may even have whiplash! The writer didn't seem to fully grasp the dialogue that makes these girls so appealing.
They all pretty much sounded the same, and even though I tried to do the voices in my head, it just left me a little flat.
The Source is back. Everyone is evil and out to get them. They come up with the perfect plan.
The Source is dead. Insert mystery evil plan, revealing that the Source was only a pawn in a great scheme. A scheme greater than the literal SOURCE of all evil, which evil cannot exist without, even if it's not currently residing in a host body.
And all in pages. The first volume has two artists, and I'm kind of torn. Obviously the cover for the first volume is amazing.
But I'm torn between the two main artists. I appreciated the style and coloring of the first three chapters, with only the occasional element of realism towards the actresses thrown in - just enough to figure out who was who.
They were similar, but with the artist's own touch. Though, I did not agree with Paige's red hair, or a lot of the clothing choices.
Piper does not wear belly shirts people! Not to mention that little Melinda looked like a bobblehead doll, and Chris and Wyatt's heights were way off for their age.
Artist loved some flip flops too! Still, I preferred this stylistically over chapters four and five. I think the artist maybe tried a little too hard to make the girls look like the actresses, but still put his own spin on it.
It resulted in a lot on inconsistent features the first artist did not have. Best part, however, was the replica Book of Shadows in the beginning.
All those spells, and recaps, and bios! I loved it! I understand that comics and graphic novels are dominated by male readers, but Charmed was a pretty female dominated show.
It's all about girl power. Now, I appreciate a pretty piece of art, but the girls should not be looking like superheroes with latex-tight shirts and jeans, and boobs up to their chins.
They're normal women! But I doubt that's something that will change, and it's just a personal pet peeve more than anything.
Also, who decided to have the new villainess look like she just came from a ho-down? Red, tied button-up and cut off jean shorts?
All she needed was a pair of cowboy boots and a hat. I had a lot of complaints. So why did I rate it so high?
Because it's Charmed, and I will always be biased. I will always love it, not matter how god awful it is.
I will keep buying these things until they stop making them, because I want to keep the Charmed Ones alive as long as possible.
View all 3 comments. Charmed was one of my favourite TV shows and probably still is today and the continuation of it in comic form was great!
I liked the story and things happened just like they would in an episode. What I thought could and should have been done a lot better was the artwork, especially the drawings of the characters.
I should at least be able to tell which character is which! Feb 11, Emily rated it it was amazing Shelves: blast-from-the-past , z-own , z-revd , paranormal-fantasy.
So glad to be back with these girls again! Definitely a darker side to the series Weak and the drawing of women is just ridiculous. Nov 05, Lynette rated it really liked it.
I could definitely picture this being apart of the television show. The only problem I had with this comic was I was not impressed how the sister's were drawn.

The comic opens with two of those babies displaying the first of her powers and the initial stirrings of demonic forces. You know, your typical beginnings for a new season.
In a lot of ways the comic retains much of the feel of the television series. But what really stood out to me was that the freedom of the comic medium allows for the series to sort of get back to its roots.
For instance, not only do the sisters get a boost in their active powers, but the demons actually look like, well, demons again!
That includes the new several times over Source. Overall the story is above par for what I expect from an episode of the show, but it starts off very slowly.
The design of the comic is kind of baffling to me. The characters are often very hard for me to differentiate between.
Unfortunately, while the sisters are more recognizable, I had an extremely difficult time telling the husbands apart with this new artist.
There are some wacky things that deserve mention like the random cover designs and odd posing of the Charmed Ones.

I've had the book sitting on my shelf for ages and finally got round to picking it up and marathoning it with the first three volumes of season nine.
It's just been like switching on the TV and watching the episodes and characters I've always known and loved!
Picking up where the season 8 finale gave a glimpse at, this volume is a bind Originally published on My Books Are Me 4.
Picking up where the season 8 finale gave a glimpse at, this volume is a bind up of the first seven comics of season 9.
It follows the sisters living a relatively normal life, raising their magical children. Phoebe is still writing for the Bay Mirror.
Paige is spending her time on her charges, and teaching at Magic School. Piper is working her way towards owning her own restaurant.
And Leo is teaching at Magic School. Everything is going swimmingly until they attend the funeral of Brittany, the innocent they saved from the demon Javna, and their innocent as the Charmed Ones.
They soon realise that the Underworld is on the move and a new power is rising up, attempting to destroy the Charmed Ones once and for all - what's new?
They protect all of their innocents and call on the powers of all White Magic in order to stop the new Source of all Evil.
As soon as I opened this book, I was instantly hooked. The characters felt familiar, exactly how I remember them from the show which I haven't watched for a while and the storylines flowed how they would have on the show.
The writing and the art had me feeling as if I were actually watching a whole new season, and it was great to be back in the presence of these characters.
On several occasions I laughed out loud, because I could totally imagine the characters I'd grown up with on the show acting and saying everything that was happening.
Paul has managed to capture the essence of the show, the characters and their world within these comics and continue their story on.
I loved the continuity and that the stories made sure to include the history of the series, rather than just creating a new story. Having already read this book a couple of years ago, the drama did fall a little flat this time around on me, but I still really enjoyed it and can see it setting up the rest of season nine.
I highly recommend this book for Charmed fans as it's a wonderful way to continue the series. You will instantly connect with the characters and feel like you'd never said goodbye.
Mar 13, Ashley rated it really liked it Recommends it for: fans of the show, obviously. Shelves: own-it , tv-books , graphic-obsessed.
I found this a couple of weeks ago at a used bookstore and even though that I was not done with watching the series on DVD, I went ahead and bought it so that when I did finish the TV show, I could jump right into this.
Back when "Charmed" debuted, I had no interest in watching the series, but years later, a friend was collecting the series and bribed me into watching the first season.
After getting mildly interested, I discovered that she only had seasons and no intention of buying the rest. This lead to me buying the 4th season for myself, but after starting it I was lost.
Needless to say, I ended up with the first 3 seasons and finally rounded out the whole series when I found a collected set of seasons at Wal-Mart.
So, for much of and all of , I have been watching "Charmed" in between breaks from other, better loved TV shows. I stumbled across this graphic at the right time and out of fear that the season finale might leave me hanging, I purchased this volume with no idea of what it was about as I didn't really read the back to avoid possible spoilers since I was only on season 5 at the time.
I liked the bright, vibrant colors that were used throughout the volume. For the most part, there were clean lines and some decent detailing.
I didn't care for the fact that the girls didn't look as much like their TV counterparts as one would expect.
The guys were especially hard to tell apart, not so much that they were drawn just alike, but rather they looked even less like the actors than the females.
I preferred the art of Dave Hoover from the first 3 issues more so than the last 2 issues done by Marico Abreu.
Hoover had cleaner lines and better faces, as well as detailing. Abreu had a thing for that "painted" look that I am not a fan of. His faces weren't as detailed but his backgrounds were ok.
I liked the introduction that was included, with a look back on the 8 "years' of the Charmed Ones, with a peek at parts of the Book of Shadows.
I can see how a refresher course would be helpful for someone that hadn't watched the show in awhile. The story-line was fitting for the "Charmed" universe and I felt that the dialog had been ripped straight from the tv show.
It was easier to tell which witch was which more so by her lines than her looks. Overall, I enjoyed reading this.
The bonus story at the end had nice art by Novo Malgapo and was interesting all of itself.
I don't see myself ordering vol. Oct 16, Cassie Hawkings rated it it was amazing Shelves: female-protagonists , home-shelved , fantasy , bookshelf-read , witches-and-wizards , read-in , paranormal , demons , graphic-novels.
It is a god send that they decided to continue the Charmed series through comics. Love it! So the story continues Eighteen months have passed since the Halliwell sisters' final battle with the ultimate power.
Piper the eldest sister has finally realised her dream and has opened her dream restaurant 'Halliwell's'. Still standing faithfully at her side is her husband Leo and their two sons, Wyatt and Chris and 1 year old daughter, Melinda who is coming into her powers which is unknown to Piper, Leo or the boys.
Middle sister Phoebe is getting ready to go back to work after the birth of her first daughter, Prudence Johanna, named in honour of her late sister Prue and Grams who maiden name was Johnson.
Prue or 'P. The youngest of the sisters, Paige has moved out of the manor like Phoebe and is living in a small house with her husband Henry and twin daughters Tamora and Kat who almost burn the house down which prompts Paige to have their powers bound even though she doesn't like the idea.
This is the first issue in the ninth season in terms of the graphic novels. Great beginning storyline for ALL fans of the original show that ended in Mar 27, Sarah Barnes rated it liked it Shelves: owned-tbr , fantasy-owned , graphic-novel-manga-owned.
I was so happy to find out that there was a Season 9 of Charmed which is one of my favourite TV series of all time.
But I must say that I was a little disappointed with this Volume One. The stories were a little drab and not that exciting. The art although suburb in its own right didn't portray the sisters like they were in the show.
I didn't expect exact likenesses but was disappointed that they looked nothing like the Paige, Piper and Phoebe I had loved growing up.
I even got a little confused I was so happy to find out that there was a Season 9 of Charmed which is one of my favourite TV series of all time.
I even got a little confused as to which sister was which as they looked kind of the same. Hopefully Volume Two will be more of what I hoped.
Having said all this I did enjoy this volume. It was a nice quick easy read and I liked seeing what the sisters had got up to since the TV show finished.
I particularly liked the Book of Shadows extracts at the start. I started re-watching Charmed the T. Th I started re-watching Charmed the T.
The plot was just like an episode of the T. I'm blatantly biased, as I love all things Charmed, but this is still a great Comic Book!
Nov 30, Passenger B. I enjoyed this one far more the second time around. The drawings are pretty well done, the story develops slowly, so that it remains unclear who the big bad of season 9.
I liked the pacing, the humor and the action. The volume ends with a surprise twist and cliffhanger, so I'm eager to learn more about the character of Neena.

This year, I learned of the comics that stand as the official season 9 and 10 of the series. I've been putting of even thinking about reading them, as one of the problems I ended up having with the show were the endless prophesies, and I learned there would be a twist in season 10 that made me groan.
But, stuck in bed as I am and wanting to watch the show again, I took a chance and bought the first volume of Season 9. It seem to be out of production, though, but they have it on kindle, so I bought it there and read it on my computer to get the colors.
Now, I have a bit of mixed feelings.
